Interesting read on positionality in fieldwork on LSE blogs. Also another on deconstructing the power dynamics at play when doing fieldwork in the global south, both regarding access in a security setting and between researchers and local people/NGOs. https://t.co/vX3hYsWBIh

Researchers may actively participate in the structural and physical power dynamics they aim to critique. They need to unlearn whiteness.

Itโs been a learning curve teaching two classes in the first semester of my PhD, but receiving new board pens as a โthank youโ from students made it worth it! Theyโve exploited my love of stationery (and noticed my weekly frustration at needing to steal pens from next door) ๐ฉ๐ปโ๐ซโ๏ธ

Always seem to dip back into these poems before starting to write. With each read, the words seem to take on different notes and provoke new interpretations. Post-memory stood out this time around. And now back to writing... @KPutuma
