Practical tips: .1. Remove the headhunters .2. Emphasize striking with shoulder pads, not helmet.3. No more than 5 yards space b/w players .4. Appropriate pairing of athletes.5. Position relevant drills.

In my experience playing football, the hardest hits I experienced were in tackling drills. As a coach, I’m more interested in drills that actually teach good technique than just having kids smash into each other.

Any strength coaches watching the CrossFit Games? Definitely not a CrossFit guy, but I enjoy watching these athletes push the limits of fitness every year.

What did we just watch?! 🤯. Colten Mertens with the MASSIVE 570-lb (258.55 kg) back squat to win Event 5. Mertens squat was 15 lb more than the next best lift.

Telltale sign your coach doesn’t know what they’re doing: . Mindless conditioning is a staple in their practice. Run away from these coaches (pun intended).

I wrote this article out of a place of frustration with 🗑️ methods I frequently see from people who work with athletes. The article discusses foundational things I wish all coaches understood. Let me know what you think 💭.

Had chat GPT create a spreadsheet to calculate vertical jump height and RSI. All I have to do is film the exercise and input ground contact time and air time (phones can capture up to a 100th of a second). Will have to do until I get my @OVRPerformance.

These boys have put in work this summer! I’ve seen crazy improvement from both of them 💪 . In case you’re wondering if kids should be training like this, read my article Developing Impact Athletes (in my feed).

8 years old. My son’s cleans are starting to get there! He hit 25 lbs a few times tonight at 60 lb bodyweight. He’s been very consistent with training this summer and the best part is - he’s enjoying it!

If you can’t pass the practical section of the CSCS exam, you have no business training groups of athletes. You need more experience. Taking test in 2020, with 5 years training experience, I found that section of the test very easy.

Strength Coaches: How many sets do you typically program per workout for your athletes? . I program 16-18 sets per workout 4 over 4 exercises. What do we think is the minimum effective doses and what is then maximum?.
