Recent IT tornadoes thread: the first one occurred back on July 4th, as you may recall, and impacted the town of Senorbì, Sardinia. Despite surveys, not much damage was found and nothing really significant was observed. The landspout was as such rated as IF0.5

Yesterday multiple waterspouts were observed in front of Genoa, Alessandro Fanciulli here counted at least seven members of that same family (he photographed three)

Definitely keeping an eye on Monday here.
Next week looks interesting concerning severe weather. Tomorrow already starts over France/Italy and N Italy will have quite an overlap of decent CAPE and strong shear on Monday.

Cannot imagine getting hit by one.
Finally dug through the Morton, TX hail camera data. A 1.6” diam. stone travelled between 36.5-64” (some uncertainty given the exact path it took) and took only 0.0182 seconds to do it. The means at minimum the stone was moving at 124 mph, and could’ve been as high as 202 mph.

After finding some newspapers that followed the September 21st 1897 tornado in Apulia, the human toll is much more tragic that what I had previously found: 70 (maybe 72) deaths and at least 399 injuries. By far the highest of the entire country.
