Like the Koch brothers and other conservative billionaires, Dunn and Wilks want to slash regulations and taxes. Their endgame, however, is more radical: not just to limit the government but also to steer it toward Christian rule. https://t.co/MZMlgyOhBu

Dr. Debby Day said her bosses at Cigna gave her a stark warning: Work faster, or the company might fire her. She said her bosses cared more about being fast than being right: “Deny, deny, deny. That’s how you hit your numbers.” https://t.co/ptEuGUKf4x

Wow, he is really good at communicating economics. The whole thread is amazing. Take-away: the only way to get Americans to buy American made instead of imports is for the price of the imports to rise so high that the higher-priced American product is the better deal.
At the moment, we don't know how much prices will go up as a result of tariffs. There are a lot of conditionals. But if the goal is raise the cost of imports so that people are encouraged to buy American-made goods, I want to tell you a story. 🧵

Apparently we’ve learned nothing about aggregate statistics obscure how working class people experience the economy. So yes, the wreckage of 50 years of neoliberalism:

A new study from the London School of Economics says 50 years of tax cuts in the U.S. — which promised to “trickle down” and eventually boost jobs and income for everyone — have only helped one group: the rich.

Tax cuts for the wealthy didn't boost the economies of the U.S. and 17 other countries — but they did worsen income inequality.

All before the vote… what a cynical tragic strategy to undermine the legitimacy of American elections for half the country.
Leaked recording of GA county election official Julie Adams, on possible post-Nov 5 plans: “Maybe we all find discrepancies & we file an immediate injunction. Maybe we go to the press. Maybe, when we’re certifying, we say we’re certifying under protest.”

.@propublica is doing some incredible work focusing on the dire consequences of a Trump win. This is the information voters are craving, not the latest poll results. Be sure to read & share. This stuff is important. It's also really good journalism.
