the peel and ginger also don't stand out much in coffee and, as soft spices, lose most of their flavor anyway after they've been boiled once; so my standard for coffee reuse is rather mainly the cardamom seeds, maybe a few cinnamon chunks, perhaps a clove if I feel eztra zesty

step 1 btw is to sort the goods. a standard glögimix is ca. 60% cinnamon 20% cardamom 10% ginger 10% citron peel and a few cloves, which is good for mulled drinks but for coffee that's clearly too much cinnamon, in pieces anyway (ground might be fine)

for some reason I still think of myself, regardless of other interests or work, as a "temporarily embarrassed mathematician". perhaps because I never actually hit a difficulty ceiling back when I was still studying it?

I once had an offline archive of favorites but I will avoid the temptation to start rebuilding. there's thousands of these and they are, indeed, doodles that are hit-or-miss. but this still holds a special place in my heart as an early opportunity to practice curation

there also seems to be, even, a followup tumblr + wordpress (username explodingdog) that was active as recently as 2023… since how long, I cannot tell on short notice

some aura of the titles, too, sticks with me. for some reason they're often not referential as much as "contextual" or even "phatic". as a corpus, quite poetic (even if all do not necessarily work as individual drawing titles…)

occasional striking arrangements too, sometimes with large monocolor masses mostly filling the space like here ("I need to know if I can trust you", 2003)

or, perhaps, alternately, in some sort of surreal dreamscapes… ("too tired to think", 2006)

there was also a lot of other "character" pieces, purple aliens and green dogs and red-eyed birds and toothy monsters; though the ones that stick with me as "archetypal" are stick figures in minimalist landscapes ("I lost the stuff", 2003)
