Regardless of their genre, a writer needs to study essays: to learn how to structure thought, to learn flow and acquire rhythm. The whole point of writing is to present a substantial idea, plainly or aesthetically. Bad writing happens when the structure fails the idea.

I need more people to understand that the work of a story is to mirror life as it is, and not every conflict or issue addressed should be resolved because in real life dramas hardly get resolved.

Publications were never meant to measure a writer’s worth. Take it easy on yourself, live, do other things, read deeply, do not be shallow in your thinking, no this is not about the metaphors you have studied so well and recycled in your poems.
