I've been commuting on Meitetsu for 25 years, and last week I noticed a JR advertisement for the first time. Looking closer, it is from JR Kyushu (not JR Tokai, which is in fierce competition with Meitetsu).

We buy most of our milk at "Genki" as it is the cheapest shop for some items. I just wonder why the price goes up when you buy more than two packs of milk? That does not happen with other products.

An arch is the entrance gate to a traditional shopping street in Japan. Local businesses use them for advertising, but they are also have slogans promoting traffic safety.

Shinkansen and other trains in the SCMaglev and Railway Park in Nagoya. It's a great museum, however note that except for the Tokaido Shinkansen no other shinkansen trains are shown, and not even mentioned in the exhibitions.

Kanji are difficult to learn and to write. For example, the "go" 護 of "hogosha"「保護者」(legal guardian) has 20 strokes, and it seems that even Japanese do not always know how to write it, and may therefore replace it with a katakana as shown below.

In Germany, "asia gourmet" is a chain of Asian fast-food restaurants. Fried noodles, lots of chicken, some tofu added, that is just a mix of some Asian ingredients. Not very authentic, but it does sell.

Two different signs in the same supermarket, obviously meaning the same "cat food", but why is it written with katakana キャットフード on the sign hanging from the ceiling, while the one at the shelves uses some kanji 猫用フード?

I couldn't agree more. Hepburn is the only useful method to transcribe Japanese.
I and many other people have been saying this since I got to Japan 28 years ago. The Hepburn system is what foreigners can read and it matches with what the Japanese sounds like. The Japanese government is so slow and dumb.

In Japan factories and building sites often stress workplace safety or 安全第一. This includes maps with the routes to the nearest hospital as seen in these photos, as part of the site's signage.

Does this logo suggest that you should use the toilet only if you dress properly, so men would have to wear a tie?

I got very many replies for my post about "boring" newly built Japanese houses. But with just as little bit of effort the area can look much nicer, as shown in this sunny photo here. This is also all built by the same developer (in this case by Toyota Home).
Is there anything more boring than a row of newly built Japanese houses?
