In her welcoming remarks, Dr Veronica Theron, our Director of Health and Wellness, explained that at the campus, we use art as a form of wellness & self-care. 💆 "Art is for you to express who you are & what you feel, in a space where you still feel safe & not judged," she said.

Building on the recently concluded #BeFreeCares sexual & reproductive health outreach, Dr Theron encouraged the students to abstain and, if not, to engage in safe sex and use contraception instead of treating emergency contraceptives as a Plan A instead of Plan B.

Dr Theron’s remarks were candid, but necessary. She highlighted common ills that young people experience, even at university campuses, & warned the students about the dangers of social issues like transactional relationships, peer pressure, revenge porn & ‘fear of missing out’.

Dr Theron detailed current trends in Namibia's tertiary institutions to equip students to make informed decisions & encouraged them to become trailblazers & change agents. She noted that they can do this by establishing #BeFree Societies to protect their students from violence.
