Suppression of the MauMau was from 1952-1960. Most of our grandparents (born 1920s) were oppressed. Pic is my Grandmother's movement pass. I cannot mourn.

"Black and brown people around the world who were subject to horrendous cruelties and economic deprivation under British colonialism are allowed to have feelings about Queen Elizabeth.
After all, they were her "subjects" too." -Karen Attiah

My grand father Ochuony Maruru served them as a clerk in Kericho at Unilever, Brooke Bond till he retired. This is alongside going to the war in 1945 he was born in 1920. I don't loathe the Queen as must as I detest the array of fellow black men running "free" nations in Africa

My father's dad, cooked for them at Chemelil, Songhor, Miwani, Koru and Mwanza equally at the potters house( kopotopoto as our people call it). As we rage, rather withhold, we should be more annoyed over the about present day colonialists.
