I know nothing about fighter jets, but learning to fly one seems similar difficult as becoming a doctor or lawyer.

Serhii Holubtsov is a brigadier general of Ukrainian Air Force. He was the commander of 114th tactical aviation brigade when Russia started the invasion in 2014. In 2020 he was appointed Chief of Aviation of the Air Force Command.

...basic concepts remain the same: mechanics & physics of flight; knowledge of airframe & systems, performance, weather, navigation, communications; confidence. Many begin gliding, &/or PPL in single engine craft, etc. When it's in the blood, you do it - fast jets are just faster

Doubts..! When the pilots master English(!), they have to learn a completely new set of qualifications (type specific avionics, manuals, comms et cetra). After having succeeded sofar, they are mere pilots. The most difficult part is to learn to be a combat pilot...

When does the West stop acting like a Besserwisser, when we in fact does not reach the ukrainians to their military boots in terms of courage, competence and morale. WAKE UP Europe, or look forward to the day when WE must fight the Russians!
