The 27 year-old daughter of a friend of mine is leaving the nursing profession entirely because her hospital made vaccines for all staff mandatory.
She's giving up half of her earning power in order to make some statement.
Frankly, I think she's going to regret it.
@Needle_of_Arya
This makes no sense - as other vaccinations have been introduced and those were taking with no issues - curious on what her reasoning is?
@Needle_of_Arya
Since Trump, people all around have made tons of decisions that seriously question their lack of judgment to the point of blowing up their career and/or killing anyone around them all for spitefully not taking the vaccine.
@MaggsDCBrunchin
I heard of a Marine Corps officer who quit before he got his 20-year pension, within one year of achieving all that, just to show that he's a tough guy with a fantastic immune system, and to tell Biden to go to hell...
@Needle_of_Arya
I'm sure she thinks it's temporary, but I'd imagine she won't be welcomed back. The nurses that quit during the pandemic because they didn't want to get vaccinated will be the last to get rehired.
@Needle_of_Arya
People are deluded by social media into thinking that their performative actions will make some sort of profound statement that will change the trajectory of the entire debate. It's frankly narcissistic behavior.
@Needle_of_Arya
We have all been through so much in healthcare. It makes me REALLY sad if she doesn't believe what's happened in hospitals, but if this is just a cover for burnout, she has to do what's best.
@Needle_of_Arya
@lacadri34
With the Osha policy of 100+ emplyees in mind, anyone dumb enough to quit their job " taking a stand" only has Mom and Pop businesses to apply to for the next while, I'm sure
@Needle_of_Arya
But she has to get tested for TB annually and get a flu shot annually, right?
Had to pass a drug screen to get hired, right?
At the hospital where I worked, you had to be a non smoker to get hired.
