Honestly, it seems he just wants to strong arm the progressives and he really doesn't care if he kills them both. He and the media will blame the dirty hippies for all of it and he will be a hero to the people he cares about: Republicans, lobbyists and CEOs.

If Joe Manchin had sat in his office all day and played Angry Birds on his phone, the House was on a path to pass both his infrastructure bill, and send the BBB bill to the Senate where he could continue to influence it. After that press conference? Who know what happens next.

Agree, but it begs the question why the Court refused to stop SB8 enforcement initially when the case was on the shadow docket.

Near the end of this first argument, it seems only Justices Alito and Gorsuch are fairly clearly on Texas's side. Really seems to me SB 8 will very soon be toast.

Stone just said that being really mad about someone getting an abortion (extreme moral or psychological harm) in Texas is enough of an "injury in fact" to allow private citizens to sue abortion providers. Sorry for the interjection, but wow.

This also really happened. The Texas lawyer argued that people being "outraged" about an abortion is grounds for them to sue an abortion provider under SB8

Texas wants to stop abortions because an individual would experience "outrage" as a constitutional injury for standing. Outrage.

Day 2 of the Globe DC Bureau's series on car attacks is a fascinating look by @jazmineulloa at the deadly 2017 incident in Charlottesville and how it served as a prelude to the wave of vehicle rammings during the 2020 George Floyd protests.

Many hoped that the extreme cruelty and cowardice of the car attack in Charlottesville would make it the last of its kind. As the past year and half has shown, it wasn’t.
