161 years ago today my great great great grandfather, Nathan Hughes, was wounded at the Battle of the Crater. Below on the left is a picture of him seated and on the right is a picture of 2 of his great great great great grandchildren standing outside the entrance to The Crater.

Very sad day. Pete was a good man and friend.
RIP to a Navy legend. Not only was he a great broadcaster, but a friend, father and husband. He touched the lives of so many midshipmen in his 28 years with Navy Athletics. You will be missed.

Thinking about my friend Pete and his family this morning.
Pete Medhurst, the voice of @NavyAthletics, has been diagnosed with brain cancer. Medhurst, a lifelong Shady Side resident, will undergo surgery Friday morning to remove a brain tumor.

160 years ago today my great, great, great Grandfather, Nathan Hughes, was wounded during the Battle of the Crater at Petersburg. After escaping slavery enlisting in Union Army. Below is a picture of him seated with his wife and to the left 2 of my kids at the Crater.
