Workers in France shut it down so thoroughly that cars couldn’t come within half a mile of the Paris airport.
In response to the President forcing the retirement age up to 64, the people have dramatically increased their protests.
French unions called for a general strike today.
And the people responded. Over 200 demos were held in the country, with upwards of 3.5 million on strike across the country.
In Paris alone unions estimate that 800,000 people turned out. 🧵
La police charge dans le tas et matraque les gens au hasard, même par derrière et par terre
Ce sont des barbares, des animaux, sans aucun honneur

As in American I love it. They aren’t waiting for the drastic change to happen like we are here in the USA. They went out on the first and fought for their rights instantly. Start from the small changes like they have to avoid the drastic ones in the future from happening

They are so organized and strong in the face of capitalist greed. I wish we were even 25% as effective here in the US. We continue to see our rights erode, they are bringing back child labor for goodness sake.
@MorePerfectUS
We love to see it. Are there reports on how many protesters the French police have shot with rubber bullets, tear gassed, tased, or knelt on to suffocate? Thinking about how differently the police routinely behave in the US. How have we allowed police to get this bad?
@MorePerfectUS
The French people are really making the 2020 protests in America look like amateur hours. No waiting at all. First thing of a rights being strip away, they go for the jugglers.

At this point it’s beyond raising the retirement age. It’s how he did it that is causing this.
I’m glad they are closing everything down.

It’s important to realize that this isn’t JUST about the pension reform, it’s about years of austerity and poor working/living conditions that have built up over many years

FYI I met with a financial guy about retirement yesterday and I'm pretty much ready to become a Frenchman over this social security at 70 shit.
