And
@ShiraDoronMD
& colleagues convincingly argue here that CDC guidance makes clear that one-way masking works once masks mandates for children lifted & masks optional: 1) N95; 2) KN95; 3) FFP2; 4) KF94; 5) double; 6) cloth with filter in pocket
Agree with
@ScottGottliebMD
that metrics for restrictions like masks increase trust in these divisive times, especially for children (lowest-risk group); good holistic view of public health
"We need to look at the things that have been the most divisive and might not necessarily be contributing the most to trying to reduce further spread in society," says
@ScottGottliebMD
on when it's time to relax pandemic policies.
Masks in CDC studies most protective for adults & now CDC has "upped" its recommendations for the best one-way mask options when changes made for mask optional (& metrics/"off-ramps" mean a lot for trust in public health)
@MonicaGandhi9
@ShiraDoronMD
“One way masking works” is the opposite of what we’ve been told for two years. My mask protects you, yours protects me was the line. How many said that and pushed these restrictions on people who did not want them? If one way masking works, no mask mandates now! Let them choose.
@MonicaGandhi9
@ShiraDoronMD
Why the abrupt switch from what you present here
@MonicaGhandi9
?
Have we forgotten about LD50, variolation, and reduction of disease severity, including the prospect of
#LongCOVID
during times of major outbreak?
17 months since
@MonicaGandhi9
perspective on masks, and I have not seen more compelling argument for universal masking than she presents.
Concepts like:
--LD50
--variolation
--reducing severity of infection
that are largely ignored in the debate.
