This song really pushed me as a guitar player. I never would have thought of playing the old-timer clawhammer technique on such a contemporary sounding song like this, but when my producer Jay Joyce suggested I try it out I ended up loving the sound! . 🎥: Fletcher Moore.

The official music video for That’s Gonna Leave A Mark is out now 🎯 It was an unforgettable experience filming this at the historic Chelsea Hotel in New York City. I could feel the spirit of all of the legendary artists who have spent time there over the years.

It’s fun, sort of sassy, and it may be the poppiest song on my new record, so I was surprised when reworking the song with some old-timey clawhammer guitar pulled the track together! 🖤.

I love how songs can mark different phases of life like that and this one’s all about being proud of the scars that time leaves behind.

We’d originally written the lyrics “I know it’s hot out here in L.A.,” in the second verse because I’d been toying with the idea of moving to L.A. Then I ended up staying in Nashville so when it came time to record the song I changed it to “I know it’s hot out here in Tennessee.”.

I wrote "That’s Gonna Leave A Mark" almost five years ago with my friend @kevinmgriffin. He has such a brilliant sensibility for catchy hooks and melodies and is one of my favorite people to cowrite with.
