I see my views on fire and rehire were alluded to in the House of Lords last night. To be clear, I support both the Employment Rights Bill and the amended fire and rehire clause and am grateful for government engagement with unions on these issues.

Good to talk to @MattChorley yesterday about trade unions and the new government. There's a lot still to do, but we have clearly seen a change in attitude towards working with unions and a respect for our role representing working people.

The banning of fire and rehire unites all unions as the practise is contemptible. Good employers would not contemplate it. But, as drafted, the Employment Rights Bill does not give a secure role for unions in negotiating contractual changes through collective bargaining.
