When did apologies become the ULTIMATE slate cleaner? People say “they’re changing they said sorry” and all I can say is “...where?” By hanging with toxic racist white people? By not giving a platform to other POC? By getting to ignore their past? That’s not changing.

Apologising is an important first step, but it should never be the only step. You have to make real, concrete changes and amends that at least mitigates the wrongs that you are sorry for.
