🎉 Happy #InternationalDayOfPlay! Last September, Islington passed the 'Play in Islington' motion—committing to making our streets and green spaces more playful, inclusive, and child-friendly. Together, we will keep building a borough where play is for everyone, every day🛝🌳

We are determined to make Islington a great place for our children and young people to grow up - an essential ingredient in ensuring success is listening to young people and working together to build a better future for the borough. /1

Despite austerity cuts to our funding we have continued to invest in early intervention that protects young people from exploitation but one person injured or killed by crime is too many. Last week I joined @drjohnwoolf to write to the PM, encouraging him to take action ⬇️

We're determined to create a greener, healthier Islington together, and part of that includes planting more trees! 🌲 🌳 We invited pupils from @AmblerSchool, @GillespieSchool and Grafton primary schools to come together to plant our latest tree in Gillespie Park.

Cllr Santiago Bell-Bradford and I spoke about our roles in embracing people's culture and heritage for today's #RaceEqualityWeek Challenge. A person's name is part of their identity so we must commit to saying it correctly. #ItsEveryonesBusiness

In our manifesto for the 2022 Local Elections, we pledged to make sure that every Islington young person moving into year 7 has access to a laptop or tablet at home. We are proud to say this pledge is now a reality. ✅💻 https://t.co/4tHvy6A624 #OnYourSide 🌹

Play streets are such a great way of allowing children to enjoy their local streets as generations did before them. We are trying to make it as easy as possible if you do want to join the growing number of streets already doing this. https://t.co/AESDQxcH7L

Why should you make your street a #PlayStreet? 🤸 🚴‍♀️ 🛴 1. Allow children to play safely on their doorstep 2. A great way to meet your neighbours 3. Reduce traffic and air pollution 4. It’s free to apply Find out more: https://t.co/fLZt7qjH1Q
