Given that Arsenal are already 4 points off the top 4 (automatic quarter final places) with 3 games to go, their most realistic aim from here is probably to finish somewhere between 5th and 8th, which would put them on the seeded side of the playoff round draw.

Obviously a long way to go – Arsenal still have both pot 3 teams to play, but as it stands Arsenal's UWCL knockout opponents would be: Playoff round: Real Madrid or Wolfsburg (unseeded) Quarter Final: Man United/Chelsea/Juventus/Bayern (unseeded)
Direct implications of that collapse is that Arsenal’s hopes of qualifying automatically for the quarters effectively over. Looking at a two legged playoff tie in February as it stands.

The last two games under Jonas vs Arsenal’s most recent two games under Slegers. More credit in the bank for Renee ofc but it’s hard to argue that Arsenal are playing any better now than they were then. Even accounting for officiating errors, the Chelsea performance was worse.

Not saying everything is rosy with the men’s team or that titles are nailed on but the fanbase of the team that haven’t won anything in 5 years are currently a lot happier than fanbase of the reigning european champions

Feel like the respective performances of both Arsenal teams over the past 3 seasons show exactly why trophy logic is so flawed. AWFC have won 3 trophies inc. a UWCL but the men have been much better across the course of full seasons and have a greater shot at sustained success.
Appreciate the whole "warra trophy" meme on the men's side, but you just don't see them collapse anymore, when they lose it is usually on variance. They rebuilt their squad with players whose performances who don't vary week to week and are mentally consistent. AWFC need this too

The lack of organisation here is so poor but a common theme under Slegers is Arsenal being caught with players high up the pitch, be that from counters or their press being broken. Lotte probably should have held her position but the issue stems from her and Steph being exposed.

The buck is always going to stop with the coach eventually but the common denominator here are a group of players who have failed to consistently perform over multiple seasons.
