That's the tour - this tool takes an opinionated approach to finding accessible pairings (as close to the boundary as possible). This tool would have saved me weeks, I hope it helps you too. If you've got ideas to make it better I'm all ears!.

Detail 5: The color pills dance in and out of the page as your reference color changes. Shoutout to @mattgperry and s animatePresence for making this smooth.

Detail 4: Keyboard shortcuts for everything, because clicking is for those with time. My personal favorite is holding shift to unlock the X and Y axes simultaneously. Is it useful? I'm not sure. But it makes me smile.

Detail 3: Every time the page loads a new random starting color is generated (within bounds to avoid 💩 brown). It takes a second to calculate, so we start with a black to white gradient before transitioning to the color. This could have been hardcoded… but that's no fun.

Detail 2: .Color pickers have 3 axes.Your trackpad has only 2.After an embarrassing amount of time I mapped saturation to scroll and now I understand how dogs feel when they finally catch their tail.

Detail 1: The education animations are all built in code, allowing them to use YOUR current reference color as a starting point for each of their respective transforms.

My last project at Uber I pitched and led a rebrand of offers. It will generate >$250M this year. Iterating to the right color was a large chunk of that impact. I was cobbling together random one-off tools. This is one of the tools I wished I had 🧵
