Proud #UNC AND #Harvard graduate!! Proud beneficiary of #AffirmativeAction from both institutions. Two generations earlier Carolina wouldn’t have considered my application. Affirmative action is why it did. Harvard might have, but it wouldn’t have given me a fair consideration.

@USAGym @USOPC_News But even *then* aren’t there additional issues to according to FIG’s rules? Can ROM validly object to: 1) the call to restore Chiles’s difficulty value—the initial failure to credit being the most consequential error; 2) FIG’s acceptance of the inquiry; or 3) its timing? 5/fin

And is *that* the issue now: that CAS has denied .@USAGym, .@USOPC_News, and Chiles due process—while going to extraordinary, extra-legal efforts to hear Romania’s grievances? Is the issue that there was no fair opportunity for USA to weigh in on the field-of-play decision? 4/n

Combine any of those—and certainly all of these—would violate fairness and due process, correct? Deciding not to reopen an arbitration decision despite allegations of its own clear *procedural* error would be, itself, another error, right? 3/n

Presuming we’re wrong, and one can challenge another’s score, did CAS (also) violate its own procedures: 1) to respect a call made on the field of play (i.e., FIG’s call to accept Chiles’s inquiry); and 2) to property notify all relevant parties? 2/n

.@USAGym .@USOPC_News, not a procedure scholar, but do we (fans) understand this correctly? According to @gymnastics rules, no gymnast can inquire about *another* gymnast’s score. If so, was that procedure violated when ROM challenged Jordan Chiles’s score at CAS? 1/n

@Delta, keep in mind, this is because YOU didn’t engage appropriate security protocols. I’d like some prompt and comprehensive attention to this matter. Thank you. I hope my experience with you improves.

@Delta @Delta, your flight crew on DL 82 are delightful so please understand that I take no issue with them or the service they’re providing. But the service that your gate agents provided on the ground is alarmingly abysmal. They were rude; they snapped at multiple customers

@Delta @Delta, is it also your quality of service to berate a customer—while he is online with your customer serviceā€”ā€œuh, uh, we don’t need that dramaā€? Mind you, I haven’t addressed your (rude) gate agents since their inappropriate point of contact.

@Delta, is it your quality of customer service to raise your voice at a passenger who asks calmly and in an increasingly calmer tone for information about whether he’ll make the connection operated by your partner—on which there have already been issues?

.@Delta, I hate to ask you on here more than you know, but your gate agents at DL 82 from ATL to CDG were unacceptably rude. Your crew didn’t conduct the appropriate security protocols during the 2.5 hour weather delay so we had to deplane. Not optimal, but it happens. 1/n

Segregation by race and place affects access to education beyond high school. Following #SCOTUS' ruling on #affirmativeaction, the AIR Equity Initiative has convened 3 experts, @Prof_WCByrd, @MattPShaw, and @nkwarikoo, to share essays on the subject. https://t.co/eanDZ4U4Kz

@ProfOsamudiaJ is one of few progressive legal scholars who is not Asian American but has thought about these issues with care. Others are @MattPShaw, @JPYGold, & @stacyhawkinsesq. All of them have also worked to amplify the voices of Asian American scholars, including mine.

Glad to be included alongside @Prof_WCByrd & @nkwarikoo. Constitutional law of equal protection & statutory anti-discrimination law will need creative multidisciplinary approaches to undo the misinformed portions of #SFFA. #AffirmativeAction @vanderbiltlaw @vupeabody @ABFResearch

Thank you for sharing. We avoided the worst in #SFFA. There are ways forward in higher ed admissions that might yield better results than before. It’s up to us to make it happen. #AffirmativeAction @vanderbiltlaw @vupeabody @VanderbiltU @ABFResearch @AIRInforms

All is not lost. The decision was quite narrow all things considered. There is a lot of room—and opportunity—to advance reparative considerations or individual experiences of race and cohort diversity. We should explore it.
