This enhancer coincides with a GWAS locus linked to calcium and PTH levels, where the risk allele, as shown in in vitro luciferase assays, leads to decreased activity and is associated with elevated PTH levels.

For instance, we uncovered a unique "double peak" enhancer in the CASR gene's first intron, absent in other tissues expressing CASR.

How do parathyroids, the sole producers of PTH, fulfill their unique roles? Thrilled to announce our study's publication @NatureComms, where we detail epigenomic maps of human parathyroids, highlighting critical genes and transcription factor networks.
