Car all packed and ready to go after an especially busy day catching up with friends and parting ways for now. It’s bittersweet but I know this is what I need now. Was nice to hear from everyone “you look so happy up there,” and it’s true. It’s where I need to be rn ❤️

Gonna soak up the sun in LA today with a nice hike bc it’s gonna be a while before I see sun again after this weekend due to forecasted inversion (which is basically just like growing up in grey NY winters so nbd).

Don’t have the photos on me but may ask around. Our building has some folks who worked on the show and there’s a photo from a party around my mid century modern buildings swimming pool with the entire secretarial pool from Seasons 1-2 + some main cast. I moved here too late 😆

Even the ending has grown on me (I didn’t like it when it aired). A beautiful moment turned inspiration for cynical capitalism. Just when you thought he’d escape his mental prison, he goes back & the implication is he created this famous ad.

Naturally the book is based off this brilliant season one scene. This is perhaps one of the most iconic scenes in the show. It’s where you knew that you weren’t just watching something special but something extraordinary.

If anyone is doing a rewatch (& I may while I’m up in the potato by myself) definitely check out Matt Zoller Seitz’s book on the show as an invaluable companion piece.

It’s truly the greatest show ever made imo and for me it’s not even close. A truly profound and existential work analyzing the myth of the American Dream as told to you by Ad men.
My rewatch of Mad Men has almost come to a close. I don’t even have the words for how good this was on a rewatch. I’m literally at a loss for words. The performances. The writing. The production. We don’t get television like this today. We just don’t. An Earth-shattering show.

Oh I know I said I wouldn’t push but I believe in manifestation; the power of infectious positivity, a me who is so happy there that I shouted from mountain tops w/ joy. I think we’d really enjoy hanging out together, with lots of laughter & joy. It’s up to them & the universe 🪷

Went to the flower shop ahead of 4+ months in the potato. Mostly for others but a little treat for me too albeit I rarely indulge even as someone who is ‘LA sober’ — for Tree Fort perhaps. Or maybe if I hang out w/ a certain someone whose affinity for plant life proceeds them 🙃

They’re not shy. They’re very smart and recognize faces. They often dance in front of my window begging and chirping for nectar. Thankfully spring and summer is right around the corner so they’ll have more food. I wonder when Boise gets humming birds 🙂 I will feed them.
