📽️En el marco de las #TresDécadasdeAcción de la #ConvenciónBelémdoPará, la vicepresidenta del Comité de Expertas del @MESECVI, Teresa Incháustegui Romero, reflexiona sobre su impacto en la protección de los derechos de las mujeres y el rol del CEVI acompañando estos esfuerzos✨

🟣La sesión fue liderada por la Relatora sobre los Derechos de las Mujeres de la CIDH, Roberta Clarke y contó con palabras de apertura de la Secretaria Ejecutiva de @CIMOEA, Alejandra Mora Mora.

Las Expertas subrayaron:.🔸Urgencia de eliminar estereotipos de género en la justicia.🔸Necesidad de fortalecer respuesta estatal y garantizar recursos adecuados.🔸Asegurar implementación de órdenes de protección.🔸Avanzar hacia presupuestos con enfoque de género.

🟣Comité de Expertas de @MESECVI fue invitado a una consulta técnica con la @cidh_iachr sobre acceso a la justicia en casos de violencia y discriminación contra las mujeres. 🔎La consulta profundizó en el trabajo del CEVI en la materia a través de sus informes y recomendaciones⚖️

🎥Sherna Alexander Benjamin, Vice President of the Committee of Experts and Expert from Trinidad and Tobago🇹🇹, highlights the collaborative spirit of the high-level consultation held in Grenada🇬🇩 to strengthen the Model Law on gender-based digital violence against women.

🔸Organized by @MESECVI and the Government of Grenada, with support from European Union’s Inclusive Societies programme🇪🇺and the Italian Republic, the meeting was key to ensuring that the draft Model Law reflects the perspectives, challenges & priorities of the region as a whole.

➡️Over two days, authorities, specialists and civil society from the Caribbean, together with CEVI Experts, members of the Technical Secretariat of @MESECVI and @CIMOAS, exchanged experiences, identified challenges, and made recommendations to nurture the draft Model Law.

📍The high-level consultation in Grenada🇬🇩 concluded with a call to strengthen joint efforts to ensure that the Model Law on gender-based digital violence reflects the experiences of all women across the hemisphere and becomes an effective instrument for regional action📣

The consultation is organized by @MESECVI and the Government of Grenada, with the support of the European Union’s Inclusive Societies programme 🇪🇺and the Italian Republic 🙌.

🟣The consultation also counted on the participation of Yasmin Odlum, Caribbean specialist at @CIMOAS; Victor Clark, British Commissioner; and Rosalie La Grenade-George, from the OAS General Secretariat Office in 🇬🇩—reaffirming the broad regional and international support.

💬CEVI Experts from the Caribbean led the working sessions, with active participation from Elaine Henry-McQueen🇬🇩, Cona Husbands🇬🇾, Hasani McDonald🇰🇳, Miriam Roache🇻🇨, and Sherna Alexander🇹🇹. Also participating was Jamie Saunders, Competent National Authority🇦🇬.

🔹The opening session included remarks by Sen. the Hon. Gloria Thomas, Minister of State for Social Development and Gender Affairs🇬🇩; Sherna Benjamin, Vice President of the Committee of Experts (CEVI) of the @MESECVI; and Luz Patricia Mejía, Technical Secretary of the Mechanism.

📍The first day of the high-level consultation on the Draft Inter-American Model Law on gender-based digital violence against women in St. George’s, Grenada, gathered over 50 representatives from government, civil society, and specialists from the English-speaking Caribbean.

Concluyó visita de @MESECVI a Uruguay🇺🇾 con participación de la Sec. Técnica, Luz Patricia Mejía, en el Consejo Nacional Consultivo para una Vida Libre de Violencia hacia las Mujeres presidido por la Directora de Inmujeres y Autoridad Nacional ante el Mecanismo, Mónica Xavier 🧵

➕de 50 personas participaron en el evento, con intervenciones de la Sec Técnica @MESECVI Luz Patricia Mejía, la Experta🇺🇾 del CEVI, Alicia Deus y la representante @UNFPAuruguay Valeria Ramos, quienes resaltaron la importancia de aportes de las y los jóvenes para la Ley Modelo.

🟪El encuentro, organizado por @MESECVI @UNFPAuruguay @pias_uy, junto con @Parlamento_UY @onumujeres, contó con la intervención de la vicepresidenta @cossecarolina, quien agradeció la participación de las y los jóvenes y les alentó a seguir trabajando por este tema.
