Emergency services were called just after 1.30pm today (Monday, March 21) to a road traffic collision on Green Street, Newham, east London.
The rider of the e-scooter, a girl believed to be aged 14, was treated at the scene but died from her injuries.

spokesperson said: "Police were called at approximately 1.35pm on Monday, March 21, to reports of a van in collision with an e-scooter in Green Street, E13.
"The rider of the e-scooter, a girl believed aged 14, was treated at the scene but died from her injuries."

spokesperson said an ambulance crew and hazardous area response team were dispatched, as well as the air ambulance.
"The first paramedic arrived in less than five minutes," they said.
"We treated a teenager at the scene and took them to hospital as a priority."

Terribly sad but not a surprise. The only surprise is that more kids haven't been killed. These things are a menace. I routinely see *kids* whizzing the wrong way up 1 way streets, through red lights, on pavements. No safety gear or knowledge of highway code. Death traps.
