Another gem from the same hospital room. This lock is intended to prevent tampering/abuse/overdose of patient-administered narcotics (i.e., push the button for pain relief). This lock could be all there is between a patient and a dangerous/lethal dose of medication. 😳

In a hospital room today visiting a friend… I was unsurprised to find the drawer full of syringes and other medical supplies was set to the factory default (2+4, 3). It’s not a terrible lock… the end user was the weak link.

Over 100 years later, I can still feel the designer’s frustration pouring off this lock.

FWIW, this lock came to me NIB… the cutout is almost certainly from the factory.
