Commonwealth moves to close the automatic exemption of people ordinarily resident overseas from the ban on leaving Australia. Ie, if you ordinarily reside abroad and visit family / Australia, you will now need to apply for permission to leave & satisfy exemption criteria.

@LizHcks @lukristofer I'm happy to make that argument with the UN human rights mechanisms - they did react to the discriminatory elements of the India travel ban - but given Australia's track record on human rights I doubt it'll make much difference, unfortunately.
