Meet the 2025 LLF Early Internship Program Fellows! We're thrilled to once again support this special LLNL program, which works to strengthen the pipeline of women pursuing computer science degrees and STEM careers by providing Lab internships to college freshmen and sophomores.

Meet Katherine Meezan, a senior in Mechanical Engineering at Cal Poly SLO. This summer at LLNL, she worked on Direct Ink Write 3D printing to enhance the Lab's additive manufacturing capabilities. Fun Fact: She played in a local jazz band named after Livermorium (Element 116)!

Meet Fusion Fellow Perry Samimy, a 2nd-year PhD in Engineering Physics at UC San Diego. This summer at LLNL, Perry is analyzing target capsules in National Ignition Facility experiments to improve gains. Fun Fact: Perry was a competitive jump-roper with the Miami Supersonics!

Meet Davis Family Carbon Fellow Osman Brown, an Electrical and Computer Engineering student at the University of Washington. This summer at LLNL, Osman is working on an automated control system for studying polymers-on-a-chip.

Meet Bakersfield College Fellow Julien Rodriguez, a sophomore majoring in Mechanical Engineering. This summer, Julien supported LLNL's Target Fabrication Group at the National Ignition Facility - the home of fusion ignition. Fun Fact: Julien plays both the guitar and trumpet!

Meet Bakersfield College Fellow Francisco Hernandez, an Industrial Automation graduate. This summer at LLNL, Francisco automated the design and testing of new materials for sample preparation and analysis. Fun Fact: He loves practicing skateboarding tricks in his free time!
