2054 is 29 years from now. It would be a great date for a council of reunion between Catholics & Orthodox, marking exactly 1000 years since the split. There is a ton of work that would need to be done in preparation, so we should start working.

Slightly grumpy Advent opinion: the Advent Liturgy has everything you need, the Advent Wreath (lovely as it is) is not really liturgical and the designating of what each candle means shifts us away from the major themes of the season. Don't hate me, read the Collects.

By remembering the First Ecumenical #CouncilOfNicaea, and inspired by the prayer of Jesus that all His disciples may be one (Jn 17:21), we are encouraged in our commitment to seek the restoration of full communion among all Christians, a task that we undertake with Godโs help.

Well - thatโs a first! [still following the Popeโs starting with a different word each day; Since he, like me, skipped the Filioque- in English, no less!] Wordle 1,625 3/6 โฌโฌโฌโฌโฌ โฌโฌโฌโฌโฌ ๐ฉ๐ฉ๐ฉ๐ฉ๐ฉ

Black Friday in NZ is from (about) 20 November to 3 December. It is not black. It is not a Friday. But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing: that with capitalism one day is as a half a month, and a half a month as one day.

And some people wonder why church attendance is in decline! [if you miss the point: this sign, seen today, is for a service 4 weeks ago. & for those wondering: other information provided on a different, permanent, sign was TOTALLY incorrect!!! ๐]

Since the Pope dropped the Filioque as I suggest, Iโm following the Popeโs suggestion of starting each day with a different word (a BIG change for me!) Wordle 1,624 3/6 โฌโฌ๐จโฌโฌ ๐จโฌโฌ๐จโฌ ๐ฉ๐ฉ๐ฉ๐ฉ๐ฉ

Commemorating the 1700th Anniversary of the First Council of Nicaea in the place where it occurred, His Holiness Pope Leo XIV and His All Holiness Bartholomew of Constantinople, lead Christian leaders in reciting the Nicene Creed in English, omitting the Filioque clause.

There is an interesting provision in the Episcopal Church's canons that allows for a bishop to receive an entire parish and for the parish to retain its distinct rite. This is why St. Mary Mag's, Denver can use the Byzantine Rite.
So TEC has historically had good relations with the Orthodox so could the Episcopal Church make room for a Byzantine rite or is there one already?
