A look at our first par 3, the fifth, from green to tee. The bunkering that wraps around the back of the green emphasises the importance of finding the right number with a mid iron from the tee.

Dave’s team give the 12th green a morning cut, keeping our putting surfaces in top condition all year round – even through the winter.

The green on the short 4th tilts sharply from front left to back right, and with that slope in mind, Colt’s bunkers make perfect sense It’s easy to see why this clever design is one of the very few 300-yard holes in the country with a stroke index of 1.

The 16th green is guarded by bunkering that’s as understated as it is effective. It’s every bit as impressive from the air as it is from the fairway.

Looking back on a packed 18th green during the Daily Mail £2,000 Tournament in 1937 - a week that ended with Sam King lifting the trophy and Henry Cotton close behind. In the distance, the 3rd hole climbs the hill - a view obstructed by trees today.

Aside from Colt’s work in the 1920s, the peninsula 17th is the only significant change in 117 years – and while it may look beautiful, it’s far tougher than it appears.

Vardon and Colt worked wonders on the 14th. The vast fairway bunker makes commitment off the tee tough, while the claustrophobic greenside traps, carved into the putting surface, make the approach a real test. The trick is to stay as far left as you can to open up the green.

Our wonderful putting course is ready for a quieter winter. While fewer members will use it in the colder months, the green remains a beautiful feature right on the clubhouse’s doorstep.

Even with October around the corner, our course remains in superb condition, and will stay that way through winter. No easy feat, and all credit to our brilliant greenkeeping team.

One week on from our inaugural Autumn Meeting and what a day it was at @LittleAstonGolf. The final outing of the year is tomorrow at @GolfShgc before we hang up the event boots until 2026. A huge thanks to everyone who’s joined us this year – we couldn’t do it without you.

The incredible putting course at @LittleAstonGolf We can’t stress enough how much fun the knockout was here last week during our Autumn Meeting - battling it out with drink in hand, trying to navigate slick greens, evil contours, and our new favourite hazard in golf: the

From the 8th fairway, the left bunker looks tight against the green, making the approach feel claustrophobic. In reality, Colt set it 15 yards short — a brilliant optical trick that turns a straightforward shot into something far more awkward.

The inaugural Autumn Meeting – 18 holes around a Vardon and Colt gem to seed players for the putting knockout after a superb three-course lunch. Congratulations to Kevin Hale for defeating top seed Dave Crozier in the final, and a huge thanks to our wonderful hosts at

For matchplay purposes, the short 4th is ranked stroke index 1 for men — the idea being that the stronger golfer should still have a look at birdie, even while conceding a shot to his opponent.

Happy 114th birthday to Charlie Ward. Our long serving Head Professional who played in three Ryder Cups (1947, 1949, 1951) and, 1951, gave Ben Hogan what Hogan himself admitted was the toughest match of his career.

Only a few weeks left of peak putting-green season, before the cold makes settling matches in the bar a much more appealing option.

With the Walker Cup starting tomorrow, we’re remembering member John Morgan - 3x Walker Cupper (1951, 1953, and 1955). In 1953, he delivered two of the team’s 3 point haul, including a win with Gerald Micklem over Bill Campbell and Charlie Coe - a pair many thought unbeatable.

Just 3 weeks to go until our next event - the Autumn Meeting at @LittleAstonGolf. A crowd of golf nuts will descend upon Vardon & Colt’s wonderful parkland course, followed by a jacket-and-tie lunch and a putting comp on their famous putting green to decide our champion. Our
