PhD at @DTU Aqua working with salmonids 🐟
Joined November 2021
Thrilled to share that my third paper is out just in time for the holidays!🐟Our study shows that Atlantic salmon smolts can face significant predation in rivers and streams. #fishsci Read more: https://t.co/rG5U3xi9UO Wishing everyone a wonderful holiday season!🎄

Lots of fun presenting data from my first two PhD chapters on spiny dogfish tracking that I’m currently working on! 🦈 @BergenTelemetry
Next up at the #2024OTNSymposium: presentations on international research programs from Vivian Nguyen at @Carleton_U, Nakia Cullain at @MarineMegafauna, and Lotte Dahlmo at @BergenTelemetry!

And we have finally started tagging thornback rays! As a part of the #NFR_LOST project, we’re studying the effect of oxygen on their behaviour and movement 🦈 Just have to wait for some months before collecting data #RajaClavata

Migration is critical for life-cycle completion in diadromous fish species. River connectivity is vital in facilitating these large-scale movement events, but the extent of present-day river fragme...

A few days ago @lottesdahlmo was out trying to capture spiny dogfish with a photographer who’s making a film for the #NFR_LOST project. It started out slow, but as they found the right spot, the dogfish were biting as soon as the bait hit the bottom🦈 (there’ll be better clips!)

New paper published lead by @FisheriesRobert. Comparative study of the kelt phase of anadromous brown trout and Atlantic salmon using acoustic telemetry. We found a difference in overwintering habitat use and timing of river exit between the two species. https://t.co/mXTjsJO3MH

New paper from @ResearchIFI: vulnerability of different #Irish #salmonid stream habitats to #climate events. Despite same climate conditions, neighbouring streams can show very different responses, which can inform fishery conservation strategies. https://t.co/YnPx77Kapm

Streamflow, dissolved oxygen, and water temperature underpin stream fish habitat suitability, so climate change could cause widespread habitat deterioration. Identifying stream characteristics that...

Spent the two last days out on the fjords downloading data from numerous acoustic receivers! Been waiting for this day since we tagged the first spiny dogfish in late October 2022. Eager to explore the data for my first PhD chapter!! #NFR_LOST @BergenTelemetry

Many organisms rely on migrations between habitats to maximize lifetime fitness, but these migrations can be risky due to a suite of factors. In anadromous salmonids, the smolt migration from fresh...

few days ago, we tagged 100 trout smolts with acoustic 🔊 tags for my PhD. Because very little is known about their migration directly to the sea (in systems without fjord), we aim at understanding the threats they face during that phase 🌡️🐟🦅🦭🦦

⚠️⚠️ Innovasea has moved to encrypt their coding schemes to ensure that their tags can only be detected by their receivers. Imagine if Apple decided that iPhone users could only call other iPhone users? You could no longer call your friend who owns an Android. Important thread 👇
