International Division Members are encouraged to submit session proposals for the Latinos and Planning Division's LUGARES conference. Session proposals due May 31! The conference is on November 7-8 with a pre-conference meet and greet on November 6.

At the 2023 National Planning Conference, the LAP familia toured the neighborhood, organized by Past-Chair Vidal Marquez. We were able to visit Taller Puertorriqueño and Delicias Bakery to learn about (and taste) the flavor of the neighborhood!

Fast forward to today, Philadelphia's Centro de Oro neighborhood is home to many third- and fourth-generation family-owned businesses, international arts and cultural organizations and residents descending from PR and Latin America.

Did you know, the relationship between Philadelphia and the Caribbean spans over centuries? Sugar and tobacco were numerous and migration of cigar workers from Puerto Rico and Cuba allowed for an initial Spanish-speaking population in the city.
