๐ฐ๏ธ๐๐ As OSIRIS-APEX slingshotted past Earth at just ~2,100 miles, it captured images and data to help calibrate its instruments. Built and flown by our team in Colorado, this spacecraft is headed for Apophis next. Learn more: https://t.co/Y4EBxYJcbq
Wave hi! ๐๐ผ @NASA's OSIRIS-APEX spacecraft will fly by Earth at 12:56 EDT today, coming about 100 times closer to Earth than the Moon's orbit. As it passes, the spacecraft will borrow a bit of Earth's gravity to adjust its speed and direction. https://t.co/R9g8v7wOTu

โWhy so blurryโ Lots of reasonsโฆbut in short, itโs not what these spacecraft were designed to do. As comet 3I/ATLAS swooped by, we jumped on the opportunity to turn our instruments its way and see what we could get. Take HiRISE as an example.๐ The left is what it was

Our proposal combines a smaller InSight-inspired lander, a lighter MAV and a heritage-based Earth Entry System. By leaning on whatโs flight-proven, this architecture minimizes mass, cost and complexity while managing risk.
Our proposed Mars Sample Return architecture leverages flight-proven designs and a firm-fixed-price model under $3B โ delivering an efficient, reliable path to bring samples of Mars home. Click for more:

All eyes on 3I/ATLAS! โ๏ธ Four spacecraft (@NASAHubble, MRO, MAVEN and Lucy) we built and operate captured these incredible images of the interstellar comet โ a testament to the engineering that allows these spacecraft to perform science far beyond their initial mission profiles.

.@TeamRubicon leverages @NOAAโs GOES-R satellites, built by us, to get real-time insights on weather events. In the early 2030s, they'll be able to utilize GeoXO to ensure continued observations as the GOES-R series nears the end of its operational lifetime.

As Hurricane Melissa grew, the Geostationary Lightning Mapper we built on @NOAASatellites' GOES-19 captured some stunning near-real time lightning data that allowed forecasters to visualize the intensification of the hurricane early in its development.
Hurricane Melissa was one of the strongest hurricanes ever recorded in the Atlantic basin, with winds of 185 mph (300 km/h) at its peak. This view of Melissa at Category 5 strength shows its intensity, as a lightning-packed eye wall circles the center of the storm. (1/8)
