Part of it was also based on the interest of a Scream without Neve + Jenna's rising star. With a refined connection to The Core 4 now, losing Melissa & Jenna is a massive blow, especially when you consider the reason for their departures.

Also let’s talk about Jenna’s star power, I think they might be underestimating it. The amount of Scream 5 YouTube reactions I watched and people were literally saying “I’ve never seen these movies, I’m just watching for Jenna” She brought in a new audiences.
