@GoingMedieval Been reading medieval etiquette manuals recently (as you do) and most of them have a bit about NOT befriending the local cats while taking part in a formal meal. Which suggests cats are both really common and have been jumping onto the dinner table mid meal for centuries.

Was watching a nice documentary about cats on Netflix and enjoying myself until suddenly they come out with a *completely made up* thing about how medieval Europeans didn't have cats because they were "associated with cats" and that's why the Black Death happened????

@KyleGHistory @GoingMedieval I'm glad we have evolved as a society in this respect and no longer look down upon befriending the host's cats, possibly to the exclusion of the host and other guests
