I’m no longer actively using this account, but may respond to direct messages. Find me on Mastodon at @[email protected] #Twexit

Finally, moving to Mastodon will at first seem very quiet, but it’s actually a very vibrant place with far more engagement than Twitter. Stick it out and you will be surprised. Give me a shout for help. /end

If you’d like to join me, I am available to help and answer any questions. Just give me a DM, I’ll respond to those. You can start here: https://t.co/oCvgpzj2jl and I strongly recommend using the Ivory app. You won’t be disappointed.

I’m quite sad about all this; I’ve met many wonderful people who have become friends on Twitter. You will be what I miss the most.

For those with large Twitter followings, starting now to build your Mastodon audience is critical. When you eventually do move over, you will find others have been there for a long time and you will be catching up.

Mastodon has no ads, no promotions, just posts from those you follow - and you can follow hashtags! Crazy people are easily weeded out and virtually everyone is nice and interesting. YOU are the algorithm!

I encourage you to give Mastodon a try. It may seem empty at first, but please be persistent and you will soon gather a far more engaged social group. Mastodon is where everyone will most likely eventually end up anyway.

Mastodon is a similar, but different place that by design cannot degrade in the same way. It’s a smaller place - for now - but is rapidly growing and today is full of amazing folks from everywhere.

Read this post to understand what is currently happening to Twitter: https://t.co/kALziLOJhE This has already happened to other platforms, and now it’s happening to our Twitter.

I’ve been on Twitter since the beginning in 2006, user 12,581. I’ve seen the system evolve into tremendous usefulness, but now it is degrading rapidly, and will soon turn into just another controlled advertising platform.

You may have noticed things changing too. Mentions are disappearing; view counts are now fake; system outages; unexplained lockouts. None of this is good, and there could be worse ahead.

Why leave? The changes have deactivated TweetBot, which provided a clean, chronological timeline without ads. Now I see so many ads, crap I don’t want or support, and only a little bit from my friends - but often not in order.

Friends: I haven’t posted for a month, and won’t going forward. I am no longer actively reading Twitter, and have migrated to Mastodon, a much better place. Recent changes at Twitter have completely enshittified my timeline, and it’s time to get off the platform 1/n

Say Goodbye to Tweetbot. We've been proud to serve you over the last 12+ years, but due to circumstances beyond our control, we have to shut down Tweetbot. Thank you so much for your patience and outpouring of support over these tough times at Tapbots. https://t.co/PjHePIkCpb

Tweetbot seems to have come back to life. The damage is done, however

Researchers just found that gas stoves are responsible for 12.7% of childhood asthma cases. Recently I read dozens of studies about gas stoves and indoor air quality. I also installed monitors in our home and ran my own tests. Here's what I learned.

An #abstract #aerial from #MeetMeAtTheForks It's not legal (no matter what size the drone) to fly over people like this without a parachute or SFOC. In this case I used one of my parachutes on my #drone
