The answer to that, is there is no right path! There are many angles, and different ways to gain the skills and experience needed. I hope this collection of #meetagenomicepi stories is helpful to students and current professionals alike.

I’ve been writing short articles about different genomic epidemiologists to profile their educational and career journey that brought them to genomic epidemiology. It’s a new and evolving field, and I’m often asked what the right path is into the field.

My hobby is making things with a computer-controlled laser, so I made some cedar souvenir coins to share. Find me at a conference and I’ll probably have some sort of token to share!.

I coordinated a dinner meetup for genomic epidemiologists (and bioinformaticians as well!) at the @CSTEconference this year. We had a total of 32 attendees! The interest and growth in the field over the past 4 years has been so exciting to watch. Looking forward to next year!

Great adventure going through the Ape Cave lava tube at Mount St. Helens. Lots of scrambling on rocks and rough terrain. The tunnel is open to the public, but there are no modifications other than stairs to get in and a ladder to get out. Cool experience!
