One thing that has been missed out in the stories on Pope Benedict is obedience. It is always said that he chose the academic rather than a pastoral life, but in the end he went and did what was asked of him. Obedience seems to be beyond the understanding of the commentators.

Caught part of your show today as I was driving home from NC. Funny thing, Fox News had just done a segment when I was coming up to Mt St Mary’s. I stopped at the Grotto for the first time ever to pray, and got back in my car just as the Hour of Mercy began. Did not plan that…
