Well yes, but fortunately there are many really visionary DASSs already leading transformation with people who draw on care - so lots he can do by working with people rather than directing.

@andrew_harrop @wesstreeting On social care, @wesstreeting shocked at the lack of direct line of sight SoS has of social care - the only way to direct improvements is to write letters to DASSs or through regulation, via a problematic CQC.

For a long time the social care field was pretty fragmented but recent years have seen increasing consensus & practical collaboration. This is the latest & is significant. Things are not as they were - there is now a firmer base on which long term reform can be built. #TimeToAct.
