Our dear @KateDicker4 is leaving for a new adventure. Despite a pandemic & a lab move from @BiochemOxford to the @CVRinfo , she completed an excellent PhD and discovered a cellular protein that regulates HIV particle formation (stay tuned for the paper). We will miss you! ππ₯²π₯

New preprint from the @castello_lab, showing that #HIV packages its genome with over 100 cellular #RBPs into viral particles. These proteins can play critical roles, e.g., PURA and PURB binds to key elements in HIV genome and enhances virion infectivity

The initial steps of the human immunodeficiency virus 1 (HIV-1) lifecycle are regulated by cellular RNA-binding proteins (RBPs). To understand the scope of these early host-virus interactions, we...

Great talk by @KateDicker4 from the @castello_lab on host RBPs that are encapsidated with the HIV genome! Unanticipated associations with interesting mechanisms that govern viral pathogenesis @RNASociety #RNA2022

An article I wrote on how yeast is being used to fight global health challenges has been published by @oxsci π here's the link if you'd like to give it a read:

Yeast: what is it good for? Well, quite a lot of things. In a talk recently given to the Oxford Synthetic Biology Society, Tom Ellis, professor of synthetic genome engineering at Imperial College...

David Attenborough's credibility cannot be measured by human instruments. It is estimated to have a density beyond a neutron star and that a thimbleful of it would crush the earth. The books seem to snuggle in, joyful as they are crushed and absorbed. There is no greater honour.
