This is the new
#SecretInvasion
title sequence...
Big studios are taking a clear stance on AI issues for artists by using exploitative and morally very questionable AI tools for their current productions.
It is disgusting. 🧵1/
Another problem is that the people behind it don't even know how it works and as creative, working artists (I assume) have apparently spent the last few years under a rock or just don't give a f. 🧵2/
hahaha the director literally said he doesnt understand how AI works, he just thought it fit the themes of the show(it was cheaper). Glad to see the future of our industry is in the hands of such well informed people.

Countless creative title sequences and (intro) animations show that there is another way (Good source for inspiration and one of the best libraries I know is

The beautiful title sequence for
#RaisedByWolves
. If it served as an inspiration here, perhaps one should also have been inspired by the way it was made: Created by director Steve Small of
@STUDIOAKA
& a team of artists using a combo of 3D, rotoscope and hand-drawn artwork. 🧵5/
Hopefully the people responsible for AI usage will reconsider their actions (maybe even changing the title sequence?) and hopefully such big players make better use of their role models. 😩🤞 🧵6/
@HumbertoAspero
Interesting. U feel the same when it's man-made? I love the approach when it's handmade (real drawings used) since it's not a digital blend, but a hard transition made soft in your mind (example here is the "Scott Free" Logo animation, Ridley Scott's production company).
@anegronart
The problem is that the libraries thes AI tools are using for their art collage is actually art done by real humans, without their okay or them getting royalties. So they still exploit artists while using AI.
@KOPF_STOFF
People are trying to defending this by saying that the "award-winning" studio that was hired to make the intro purposely used AI and their own art as samples for the AI. My question is: if they made original art for the intro why even involve AI to begin with?!
@TomislavNikolov
If they did, that's good bc no other artists are exploited like it's usually the case with these tools. Still, my point is: it's a message to the world, the tools are exploiting and most people who'll see this opener won't contribute just their own art to work with these AI tools

Getting some fast food is easier, less time consuming and cheaper then getting and preparing fresh food. I won't talk about pros and cons here. I prefer the real deal, thanks.
