not accepting the loss of verso is what led to the fate of aline. being stuck in this perfect illusion. and wanting to protect that memory. maelle lost so much, she finally had a life of her own in the canvas, she had agency. but does it matter more than grieving and moving on?.

maelle either becomes a reflection of her own mother and lives a lie, but she finally gets a chance to make her own choices—or she goes back living a life in the shadows, but with the latter, there is still the chance for her to rewrite her destiny & have a good life.

i just watched the verso ending and i think it's my fave. but it's sad because in either endings the agency of one of the two characters inherently gets stripped. verso is forced to perform in the canvas, whereas maelle is forced to live her life the way her father wanted her to.
