🎉 Thrilled to announce the publication of my first journal article (OA)! How do social science fiction stories portray the future of #AIEd? Thank you to colleagues, co-author and @LMT_Journal. #AcademicTwitter #PhDLife

Imagine the potential for conducting interviews like this, replacing long and sometimes tedious surveys. Of course the researcher needs to be heavily involved. There will always be voices against this, but it could potentially support large-scale research.
I tested Anthropic's new AI interviewer 👇 Feeling listened to + getting adaptive and compelling Qs makes a huge difference vs. a survey - I genuinely enjoyed it (and gave much better answers!) This has to be the future of market research, customer feedback, etc.

For some reason, Perplexity and Claude return with internal errors or a 500 Internal Server Error (cloudfare) ?!

It should perhaps be studied how we continue to dwell on the same issues we did 3 years ago when it comes to genAI. You still hear teachers asking “what if students use this for writing assignments?” when in reality this is used for so much more than that (including that) and so

Crazy how so much has happened in 3 years

Have you submitted to SocArxiv? If so, this might be of relevance for you. They are temporarily pausing any new submissions about AI topics for 3 months so that the system can be relieved from the overwhelming submissions.

Imagine having this much toxic behaviour in academia, and then also come on here and read from certain 'academics' that you are not allowed to even say you have a PhD, just because it may ruffle some feathers.
My friend said there is a PhD student (reviewer) cancelled her trip to NeurIPS because she was threatened by authors. This is unacceptable. Please report immediately to ICLR -- All "unethical" authors should be banned for years!!

Just tried this for the first time yesterday. I uploaded a manuscript, it took roughly around 3 hours to generate the review, and the targeted journal was not one of the pre-loaded ones (presumably that is why it took more time?). Nevertheless, I see how it is targeted at the
Releasing a new "Agentic Reviewer" for research papers. I started coding this as a weekend project, and @jyx_su made it much better. I was inspired by a student who had a paper rejected 6 times over 3 years. Their feedback loop -- waiting ~6 months for feedback each time -- was

I personally like the size of such theses, and it's something close to how long my own thesis might end up looking like. I'm getting feedback like "In maths, PhD theses are 30 pages long". Okay then, let that be the case, and let me unfold my argument in a lot of words, or enough

People (with or without PhD degrees on here) keep fighting about whether a PhD is a job or if it gives someone a legitimate reason to call themselves a 'doctor' (and then go and look up the meaning of the word). How about you stop discouraging ambitious young people who want to

During a session today where academics were sort of negating AI and its implementation in courses and feedback practices, the same academics were surprised to hear that everyone (including students) has access to CoPilot through Microsoft OneDrive. And that’s on up-to-date-ness

Is there a proportionate effort or plan like this, coordinated within the European Union or EEA? @grok @AskPerplexity

I can’t tell if this is a joke or not? Also, 2037?
Europe is leading the way into the AI Age Pleased to announce this brand new, state-of-the-art, 330 square meter data center in the heart of Gelsenkiärken, Germany The facility will process 20 gigabytes of AI data per day Construction will begin in May 2037, pending

I could take your word for it; however, reading the limited information on the @VeritusAi website (also see image), I don’t get enough information about what happens in the background. One thing is for certain: if I am in the EU/EEA, I know for sure that my data is handled
@JosephGidiotis @AndrewYNg @jyx_su Privacy is the first thing most faculty ask about. The safest pattern in this space is that the manuscript stays private, is never used for model training, and can be deleted at any time. That is the approach we take in @VeritusAi since professors work with unpublished data and

Instead, at the moment we see a rise of on-site exams again and methods that seem to be in between reinvention and irrelevance; in other words, no step forwards?
Schools are completely archaic in the AI era, still calibrated for the last century. They are going to need to be re-invented, or become irrelevant. Students who truly want to learn will, as always.
