So, do I recommend seeing the Terracotta Army when you have the chance? Absolutely! But I also recommend you put on a podcast about it whilst you walk around😅.

If a functional activity like reading is difficult to do, regardless of the difficulty and the relative effect it has on the user, it's unnecessary. It'll leave an impression and distract from the intended experience. That's why good, user-centered design matters!.

That's an argument you might hear in digital/games: the user has found a way around it, it's not a problem. But it's an awful reading experience. I leave the exhibition thinking about how unenjoyable it was to learn about these sculptures, rather than the sculptures themselves.

Yes, as a sighted person (who relies on contact lenses and glasses), it's still readable for me. Even if I have to get close to the board, it's readable and therefore accessible, right?.🧵.

A reminder that the outside world (i.e. not games) is still inaccessible!.Low contrast, small and thin text, as well as red lighting really failing to illuminate the text make for an incredibly hard reading experience in the Terracotta Army exhibition in Brussels right now.
