At FBI Houston today, @TelemundoHou asked HPD Chief Noe Diaz why people should call authorities about wanted fugitives if they're worried HPD will call ICE on them. Diaz said HPD was "not in the immigration business", then backed off. Here's the exchange

6/ What surprised me is how brief a time some of the men spent free. One allegedly bailed out in May 2021 using this scheme, and pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 12 years in prison by September 2021.

2/ The company is AABLE Bail Bonds. They worked with co-signers to submit forged pay stubs and other documents. The goal was to trick their insurer into backing bonds for high-risk clients who otherwise wouldn’t have qualified.
