@OConnorOisin @MaiaDunphy Hi Cllr, @returnireland are operating the Deposit Return Scheme in a way that is leading my company to have to de-list 90%+ of the canned beers that we import. This is DEVESTATING for my company. They could solve this by making the Re-Turn logo OPTIONAL on containers. (01/12)

@OConnorOisin I would much rather, when talking on Newstalk about beer, to be promoting Re-Turn's DRS Scheme rather than talking about how @returnireland @smytho and the @greenparty are damaging consumer choice, small Irish businesses and the environment. (11/12)

@OConnorOisin 3. Products that are facing de-listing are craft and premium beers - beers marketed with a “Drink Less, Drink Better” philosophy. If people are drinking less, by definition there is less waste. Is not the mantra - REDUCE, then Re-Use and Re-cycle. (10/12)

I have found to date that not a single @greenparty_ie member/politician has engaged with me on Twitter/X about the Re-Turn Deposit Return Scheme. @smytho and @EamonRyan have yet to reply to a tweet that they have been tagged in. Hoping @OConnorOisin is going to be different.

By insisting on a Re-Turn logo on every container, and not allowing it to be OPTIONAL - HUNDREDS of products (competitors of Guinness, Heineken, Coca-Cola) will disappear from the market. #NOReTurnLOGO (13/42)

@returnireland @returnireland - you’ve been introduced to an APP Developer that can develop a free App allowing the public to confirm a barcode is in the scheme by scanning it on a phone. No need for the Logo. Make the Re-Turn Logo OPTIONAL permanently. #NOReTurnLOGO (8/8)

I raised the point with @GreensKildare they have resolutely ignored me. It's a Green Party tax everything they do is designed to make peoples lives more arduous. Yet they achieve nothing.

@returnireland If the Re-Turn logo is essential, why do we have a Transition Period with between 33%and 50% of No Logo containers that Re-turn is insisting Deposits are charged on. Your assertion that the logo is "essential" is disingenuous at best. Please answer my other questions.

It would be very easy to make the Re-Turn logo OPTIONAL. It would MASSIVELY help businesses such as mine and @8degreesbrewing who are faced with over-stickering 460,000 cans at significant cost. It has been done in Malta. Irish people are intelligent deal with an OPTIONAL logo.

Keeping the logo Mandatory - * Has created confusion during the Transition Period, and has allowed Re-Turn to amass over €28 Million in unclaimed deposits; * Benefits Big Business - the companies that set up Re-Turn - by reducing their competition. Make the logo OPTIONAL.

Originally, Re-Turn set a rule that all containers registered with the scheme need the Re-Turn logo on the container. Re-Turn recorded barcodes for registered products on a database, and this is the basis for when Deposits are charged. (03/40)
