Hi, my name is Jesse Cox. I paid back $60,000 in student loans. I was in debt for all of my 20s. I wouldn't wish that on anyone. I'm happy loans are being forgiven for people. Empathy. Learn to have it.

Just an addition since some people are concerned about our taxes paying for this. My taxes for years have been going to buy jet fighters we don't use and to pay for wars I don't want. My taxes in California subsidize people in Kentucky. I have no say in any of this.

@JesseCox โ€œForgivenโ€ funny way of saying the rest of us are gonna have to pay other peoples debts later, pretty naive to think otherwise. But go on, thinking it was a simple act of good faith and that debts just โ€œdisappearโ€ cuz yeah the universities are just gonna roll over to this. ๐Ÿ™„

@Area51Bot I pay for fighter jets we don't use with my taxes. I'm not okay with that. Do I get a say in that?

@JesseCox Yeah working folks should have to pay for people to have "empathy" with other peoples money...

@JesseCox Thank you. There are a lot of people out there who believe loan forgiveness is a bad thing.

@JesseCox $30k here, and I agree 100%. Student loans are a predatory burden on the generation that can least afford it. Every day they continue to exist is another day the federal government tacitly declares that bankers' interests are greater than the American people's wellbeing.

@JesseCox I never was in debt myself, but Iโ€™m glad those who struggled with it, especially if any were students of mine, are getting relief.

@JesseCox Exactly! I almost worked myself to death going to school and working full time to avoid loans. I donโ€™t want anybody else pointlessly continuing to suffer like that for education.

@MJRoetzel @JesseCox a system that maintains an underclass through debt and poverty charges (cheap boots that last a year, expensive ones that last 20) has no place in a functioning society

@JesseCox I will take the 10k off my debt, but still leaves me with a hefty chunk to pay off. I don't qualify for any of the full forgiveness so I wish I felt better about it than I do.

@JesseCox Agreed 100% Every other country has free college for the most part except the US where everything is a "for profit" system.
