DNC in IBI (2/2): Does NOT imply consciousness & reassuringly all activity quickly disappeared But conservative approach: ensure temporal accuracy and validity of determination: 1. Do ancillary test OR 2. Wait & re-image for whole brain injury https://t.co/aNqS71WtPR

DNC in IBI (1/2): Game-changer for me from this amazing project. TRANSIENT brain function (EEG, SSEP, VEP) has been reported in patients who met clinical DNC criteria after ISOLATED brainstem injury. Challenges my long-held belief in "brainstem-death" formulation

What has changed in DNC/DDD determination with the new Canadian Guidelines? Some of the important changes: 1. Ancillary testing in isolated brainstem injury 2. Waiting period after ROSC from cardiac arrest 3. Core temperature => 36 deg C
