In 2024, Omaha saw a 17% reduction in crime while we continue to expand efforts to recruit and retain officers during a national police staffing crisis. We've budgeted a 5% ($9.5 million) increase in OPD’s budget as we continue to invest in recruiting the best and the brightest.

Public safety is our #1 priority and our work is paying off. In 2024, Omaha saw decreases in crime across the board: ⬇️ 17% reduction in all crime ⬇️ 21% reduction in violent crime ⬇️ 34 % reduction in homicides We'll continue our work to keep Omaha safe by supporting our police!

In 2024, the City of Omaha had a 34% reduction in homicide with the OPD homicide clearance rate of 100% for an unprecedented second year in a row, meaning all cases were solved. Thanks to all the men and women in law enforcement who made this possible and work to keep Omaha safe.

The development at Crossroads is moving forward! The groundbreaking will be in the spring for the $900 million development. This project continues our record of progress and will have a strong economic impact on Omaha for years to come.
